I was on youtube.com watching videos when I came across this particular one called "Dear Mr. President" by Pink. It was a slide show and the words really hit a string. I'm going to take out all the references to the President so you can listen to the message because parts of this song are very true.

Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
    You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
    Are you proud

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
    And tell me why

Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
    Hard work
    Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
    Hard work
    Hard work
    Oh

How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
You'd never take a walk with me
    Would you

there are a couple of stanzas in the middle I don't agree with and were aimed at Mr. Bush, but when I took that out, listen to what it's saying. How can we sleep at night and be so enwrapped in our mediocre, petty affairs. There are people wondering where they're going to sleep and fighting for OUR freedom by risking their lives. There are children without food at night that cry themselves to sleep. Multiple people in our world are victims of cancer and AIDs and other life threatening diseases and disorders. There are families who lost mothers and fathers, good people, for no reason and are left hurting with a gap that no one can seem to feel. This isn't just things you see on the news in third world countries. It is here -- in Amereica.

In a sense this is a call to action. What are you going to do to try to make the world you live in a better place? What steps can you take? I'm not saying to find the cure for cancer or find a solution for world peace or end war. These things will continue until Christ returns and makes this crummy, imperfect world perfect. There are so many simple things you can do. First and foremost, pray. Pray for your fellow humans. God hears the cries of his children. You can volunteer at a shelter or donate money to charity organizations. You could do the Walk for Life or donate your hair to Locks of Love. Just the smallest things.

    The Bible says. . .
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Isaiah 3:5

    "People will oppress each other—
man against man, neighbor against neighbor.
The young will rise up against the old,
    the base against the honorable."
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Ecclesiates 3 says
"1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace. "

Our world will have wars and disease and pain. BUT......
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Matthew 22:34-40

" 34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Romans 13:10:

"10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Galatians 5:13-15

"13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature[a]; rather, serve one another in love. 14The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."[b] 15If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. "
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hebrews 12:14-15

"14Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. 15See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many"
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I am saying is that God wants us to love each other and help those around us. We are all his children and nothing makes him happier than to see his kids getting along.

And that's all I'm trying to say..............................

In the wake of the recent events in Colorado, I've been thinking alot. About life and death and time and all that those entail.

This tragedy has made me realize even more so that no day is promised. One of those victims should be here with her best friend, in Winchester meeting my church family tonight, but instead her family buried her Wednesday because of the actions of one man. NO DAY IS PROMISED!

You can no longer let people say, "You're young! You have plenty of time!" because in reality, you could die as soon as finish reading this sentence. I'm not saying to rush your life, and you should always have God's approval, but the fact that you are young is no longer an excuse or reason to inhibit yourself.

Just a week before these two teenagers died, my grandfather passed away. My grandfather did some amazing things for people, but he also had a VERY nasty past. What do you think people were talking about? The positive things. So give people things to say at your passing. Make it easy for them to find the good things, and let them see God's grace in the mistakes.

Life in the scale of eternity is so minisule. The Bible says we're like a flower -- they bloom, are beautiful and full of life for a season or two, then they die.

Make it a point in your life to do one thing a day that makes a difference for God's kingdom before you run out of days to glorify Him with. Even if it's obeying your mom the first time she tells you to do something or calling someone who hasn't been at church for a while, impact the world you're in now before you're time is gone.

God says that anything we do for a fellow human is like doing that to or for Christ. If you're way of impacting God's kingdom is witnessing to people everyday, by all means GO FOR IT! But if you're way of impacting God's kingdom is by sharing a smile or being a genuinely godly example, GO FOR IT!

Just remember, any breath could be your last.

FEAR. It’s one thing every individual has in common. Fear of self, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of darkness, fear of falling, fear of heights, fear of tommorow.... fear of today. Everyone has a fear/fears. God has been speaking to me about fears and how they hold us back in our lives. I heard a sermon with this passage :

1 I will thank the Lord at all times.
My lips will always praise him.
2 I will honor the Lord.
Let those who are hurting hear and be joyful.
3 Join me in giving glory to the Lord.
    Let us honor him together.
4 I looked to the Lord, and he answered me.
He saved me from everything I was afraid of.
5 Those who look to him beam with joy.
They are never put to shame.
6 This poor man called out, and the Lord heard him.
He saved him out of all of his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord stands guard
around those who have respect for him.
    And he saves them.
8 Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Blessed is the man who goes to him for safety.

"I looked to the Lord and He answered me. He saved me from everything I was afraid of. Those who look to Him beam with joy. They are never put to shame. . . . Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man who goes to Him for safety."

Wow. . . . So it sounds like the psalmist is correlating being saved from fear to joy. When people are asked what they what out of life you usually hear, " To be happy," or "to enjoy life." David said when he "looked to the Lord, [God] saved [him] from all of [his] fears." Not just one, not just a few, ALL of his fears. But you have to be willing to look to God and let Him take your fears. AND he said "those who look to Him beam with joy." So the two benefits of looking to God that are in these two verses are removal of fears and you will BEAM with joy.

So next time you have fears, rational or irrational, and you crave some joy, look to God. "Taste and see that the Lord is good." Talk to Him, listen to Him, praise Him, share Him, or as I more recently heard, STALK Him. Taste and see.
